Model designed by Kiko Kostadinov Studio and the ASICS Sportstyle development team. The UB8-S GT-2160 trainers are inspired by Mino's themes of weaves, functional utopias and ceramics.
Soft textures are combined with handcrafted elements typical of iconic works of art. By creating matt and délavé colour shades, the design team managed to enhance the conventional shape and structure of the running shoe.
In contrast to the grid patterns and bright colours with a matt finish, the variations inspired by the functional utopia have direct correlations with nature. Primary colours with a glossy finish are combined with metallic structures that accentuate the double-layered latticework.
In addition, the designers studied the influences of Mino ceramics by analysing current processes to reproduce the rust-like finishes present in artefacts made in this style. This process considers figurative art as a reservoir from which to draw in order to find shades of colour capable of withstanding the test of time.
